New recycling of waste trial

Recycling trial to make sorting easier

North Somerset Council is trialling a new reuseable bag to help residents separate their recycling.

6,000 households across North Somerset will receive a reuseable bag for recycling plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, and metal packaging like tins, cans and foil.

The households selected for the trial include properties on several roads in our area. A full list of roads taking part is at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/bagtrial.  The roads selected in this parish are all in Failand and are:

Belmont Drive, Birchwood Drive, Bowden Way, Clevedon Road, Flax Bourton Road, Green Lane, Hill Drive, Jubilee Drive, Manor Way, Old Chelsea Lane, Owen Drive, Short Way, Sixty Acres Close, Weston Road, Woodland Close and Woodland Way.

They were all chosen because they are on collection rounds which have higher amounts of black bin waste and less recycling compared to the rest of North Somerset.

The new red recycling bag is being delivered to trial households over the next two weeks, with full instructions included in a leaflet inside the bag. Households can start using their new bag straight away, alongside their existing recycling boxes.

Other councils using similar recycling bags have found they provide a good solution for the storage and collection of recycling, plus reduce litter.
