📢 VACANCY: Parish Councillor – Make a Difference in Your Community!

Do you care about where you live? Do you want to help shape the future of our parish?

We currently have a vacancy on Wraxall and Failand Parish Council, and we’re looking for someone passionate about our community to join us as a Parish Councillor.

Why join us?
Wraxall and Failand Parish Council is made up of local residents who are dedicated to preserving the character of our villages while supporting thoughtful improvements and services. From footpaths and green spaces to planning, we work together to represent local views and help the parish thrive.

Right now, our parish faces serious challenges, including potential development pressures. Therefore, this is a crucial moment, and a real opportunity for someone who wants to step up and make a difference.

Being a councillor is a great way to get involved and play a meaningful part in protecting and shaping the place we call home. You’ll gain insight into how local decisions are made, build new skills, and work alongside neighbours who care deeply about the area.

What does a Parish Councillor do?
Parish Councillors represent the interests of local residents, help make decisions on local services and amenities, and work to improve life in the parish. It’s a rewarding opportunity to have your say and contribute to the well-being of the community.

Who can apply?
You don’t need any previous experience – just enthusiasm, a bit of time, and a genuine interest in your local area. Full support and guidance are provided, and training is available for new councillors.

To qualify for this volunteer position, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old
  • A British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of the European Union
  • Registered as a local government elector for the parish, or
  • Have lived, worked, or owned property in the parish (or within 3 miles of it) for at least the past 12 months
