🚦Highway Improvement Scheme – Failand Signalised Crossroads

The Parish Council has been advised that North Somerset Council’s Highways Electrical and Road Safety teams are proposing improvements to the signalised crossroads at Failand (junction of the B3128 and B3129). The aim of these works is to enhance road safety and upgrade the traffic signals to improve their efficiency.

To carry out the upgrades, the existing signal poles and equipment will be replaced, and new ducting, sensors and electrical control cabinets will be installed.

As part of the scheme, the traffic islands will be widened to ensure the new signals provide the required clearance from the road edge. In addition, a new uncontrolled dropped crossing will be introduced across the B3128 (Clevedon Road) to improve access for bus users. Traffic lanes will also be reconfigured to mirror the Bristol outbound layout, and new road signs will be installed to help drivers adjust to the changes.

This work is scheduled to begin on Monday 23rd March 2026 and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.

During this period, temporary four-way traffic signals will be in operation. While some delays are possible, every effort will be made to keep disruption to commuters and residents to a minimum.
