⛔ Public Footpath Closure Notice – Dig For Victory Show 2026

The Parish Council has been informed that the following public footpaths will be closed to facilitate the holding of the Dig For Victory Show:

  • Footpath LA9/8 – from Station Road to Footpath LA20/43
  • Footpath LA9/9 – from Clevedon Road to Footpath LA9/8
  • Footpath LA20/43 – from Clevedon Road to Footpath LA9/8

The closure will come into effect at 00:01 on Tuesday 9 June 2026 and last until 23:59 on Tuesday 16 June 2026.

⛔ Road Closure Notice – Sandy Lane, Lower Failand

The Parish Council has been notified of the closure of Sandy Lane (adjacent to Glenhurst Barn).

The closure is scheduled to commence on 8 June 2026 and is anticipated to be in place for four days due to the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by North Somerset Council to carry out Tree Risk Management.

⛔ Road Closure Notice – Bristol Road, Wraxall

The Parish Council has been informed of a closure of Bristol Road from the junction of B3129 Belmont Hill to the junction of The Grove.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 18 June 2026 and is anticipated to be in place for seven days (including the weekend) to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and kerb line installation works, which will take place between the hours of 09:30 – 15:30.

⛔ Road Closure Notice – Oxhouse Lane, Failand Lane and Sandy Lane

The Parish Council has been notified of the closure of Oxhouse Lane, Failand Lane and Sandy Lane

The closure is scheduled to commence on 19 June 2026 for the period of 11 days due to the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach Limited to link existing BT Boxes, cabling and tree cutting works.

The work will be carried out in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Oxhouse Lane from junction with Sandy Lane heading south to outside Failand House – 19-23 June 2026
  • Phase 2: Failand Lane from junction with Mill Lane to junction with Sandy Lane – 24-25 June 2026
  • Phase 3: Sandy Lane from junction with Failand Lane to Tanpit Lodge – 26-29 June 2026

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Love Saves The Day Festival 2026 – 23rd and 24th May

Love Saves the Day Festival is scheduled to take place at Ashton Court this weekend.

Please find below an information pack outlining key details about the event, including road closures and diversion routes.

The event organisers have worked closely with Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, and Avon and Somerset Police to ensure the event is delivered safely while minimising disruption to the surrounding area.

⛔ UPDATE – Road Closure Notice – Tickenham Road, Clevedon

The Parish Council has been notified that the temporary road closure on Tickenham Road, Clevedon has been postponed.

The closure from outside the property ‘Copperfields’ to the junction with Northern Way is now scheduled to commence on 8 June 2026 and will be in place for 10 working nights between 8:00pm and 5:00am to allow for carriageway surfacing works.

⛔ Road Closure Notice – Clevedon Road, Tickenham

As part of reinstatement works following construction of the Hinkley Connection Project, National Grid will be resurfacing and reinstating road marking on Clevedon Road, Tickenham.

A full overnight road closure will be in place along Clevedon Road from Tuesday 05 May to Thursday 07 May 2026. The closure will operate between 8pm and 6am each night, with the road reopening during the daytime.

A Traffic Management Operative will be on site during the closure to assist residents with access to their residences, and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.

During the closure, a signed diversion will be in place via the following route:

  • Traffic will be diverted onto the B3133 High Street towards Nailsea, following signs for Northern Way.
  • Follow Northern Way and continue onto Bristol Road (B3130).
  • At the junction, join the A370 and continue in the direction of Backwell.
  • Follow the A370 until directed to rejoin the B3130 Clevedon Road, past the closure.

The Dig For Victory Show 2026 – 13th and 14th June 2026

The Dig For Victory Show will be returning to The North Somerset Showground on 13th and 14th June 2026.

Please be advised that the weekend programme will include occasional loud bangs during the course of the weekend. However, following feedback from local residents, the festival organisers have confirmed that no gunfire will be included in the the Saturday evening programme.

Event organisers apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Neighbourhood Watch Briefing Session – Failand

Following recent feedback and interest in establishing a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Failand, the Parish Council is please to invite residents to attend a dedicated briefing session.

Representatives from Avon and Somerset Police will be in attendance to provide information about the scheme, answer any questions and outline the steps involved in setting up a local Neighbourhood Watch group.

This session offers an opportunity for residents to learn more about the scheme and become involved in strengthening community safety.

🛫 Bristol Airport Expansion Proposal – Update

The consultation on Bristol Airport’s expansion proposal is now open for public comment. The proposal seeks permission to increase capacity to 15 million passengers per year, within a rolling 12-month limit of 99,931 air transport movements and 4,974 night flights operating between 23:30 and 06:00.
